BEST OF MILAN FASHION WEEK
AUTUMN / WINTER 2017
Oh Italy, you're giving me a heartbeat! Milan is probably my favourite stop in this fashion month hurly-burly, no matter how modern New York is, how unique London and how big and fascinating Paris, Milan is and always was my favourite. There is just a certain something about the Italians, a lightness and playfulness that no other city is able to include in its designs.
Talking about this seasons Fashion Week, it was all about colour. But finally, in Milan it’s always all about colour. It’s just this italian way of life, the mediterran happiness that flows from the pencil points, swashing over the papers, the sewing machines, onto the models walking the catwalks and bringing joyful glamour to the home of pizza and pasta. Oh yeah the food, the food might be also a reason why I love Milan so much.
Let’s dig right into it and start with my biggest guilty pleasure of fashion. Since Alessandro Michele is the head of Gucci, nothing in the fashion industry seems to be the same as before. Literally, the whole game of retailing, prints, patterns and shilouettes changed and everything is about channelling the inner madness into something as beautiful as Gucci.
It is currently the most wanted brand for everyone who works, lives or maybe just visits the fashion world occasionally. Even I am a victim of that Gucci madness, owning already two bags and a scarf (and I am pretty sure there will be coming more soon).
This seasons favourite? The glittering full bodysuit under the evening gown. To speak bluntly, an all over body glitter suit? Come on!
Fendi, my second most favourite label right now, I still can’t get over the fact that there are so many different ways to transform fur into something so beautiful and aesthetic that you basically wanna wear eight layers of it on top of each other. This year had a very 70s vibe with all the usual suspects.
